Gu the penguin just finds it far too boring at the South Pole: standing in the cold all day long, pressed up close to the other penguins so he doesn’t freeze – and nothing but ice everywhere... Nothing happens. One day, a ship passes by the South Pole and Gu immediately sneaks off to get on the ship. When his best friend Pi realises this, she hops on board – and together they set off on a trip around the world. On their journey, they get to know lots of people and lots of music, and it sounds different in every country.

While rarely performed in Germany, Edward Elgar's oratorio "The Dream of Gerontius" follows Handel's "Messiah" and Mendelssohn's "Elijah" in popularity in England. This masterpiece reveals the true side of the English romanticist, known mainly for the "Pomp and Circumstance" marches. The monumental work follows a soul's journey to heaven after death, guided by a guardian angel, until it beholds God's glory.
