Zwischen Konfetti und Polonaisen

Sun, Feb 23, 2025, 11:00
Every year it's carnival, and every year she has the same problem: what to wear? Pippi Longstocking doesn't fit anymore, the polar bear costume is too light-colored, Darth Vader sounds weird, the elephant costume makes eating difficult, and her friend wants to wear the pink unicorn costume. A witch costume might scare people. Maybe other countries, like Great Britain, have different customs, like a football festival.

Lied von der Erde

Thu, Jun 13, 2024, 19:00
Clay Hilley (Tenor), Samuel Hasselhorn (Bariton), Alain Altinoglu (Conductor)

Himmel und Hölle - The Dream of Gerontius + Livestream

Sat, May 24, 2025, 20:00
Jamie Barton (Mezzo-Soprano), Allan Clayton (Tenor), Derek Welton (Bass-Bariton), Rundfunkchor Berlin (Choir), WDR Rundfunkchor (Choir), WDR Sinfonieorchester (Orchestra), Cristian Măcelaru (Conductor)
While rarely performed in Germany, Edward Elgar's oratorio "The Dream of Gerontius" follows Handel's "Messiah" and Mendelssohn's "Elijah" in popularity in England. This masterpiece reveals the true essence of the English romanticist, known in Germany for the "Pomp and Circumstance" marches. The oratorio follows a soul's journey to Heaven, from death to angelic encounters, culminating in a vision of God's glory.

You can experience the Mongolian ensemble in two concerts with different programs. The originality of the landscapes and the endless expanses of nature become tangible and are reminiscent of the stories of Genghis Khan and his horsemen. The overtone singing of the men (Chöömi), which has its origins in the shaman tradition in the Altai Mountains and impresses with its touching tonality, originated in Mongolia. The women's Urtiin Du chant was created as a powerful dialog with the holy blue sky in the solitude of the overwhelming, aristocratic silence of the Gobi Desert. Let yourself be intoxicated and grounded by this musical dialog with nature!
