In Bellini's Norma, the priestess Norma calls for peace against Roman occupiers, while internally battling her broken vows as a secret lover and mother. Her lover, Pollione, and the novice Adalgisa mirror her double life. Amidst war and Roman dominance, secrets escalate into a drama of life, death, and love. Bellini's 1831 bel canto opera showcases these conflicts through dramatic choruses, rituals, and exceptional vocal performances, exploring themes of war and peace, love and duty.

From raging sea storms emerges Otello, a victorious general serving Venice, who loves Desdemona. Against her father's will, she loves this man who shines in society but remains a stranger. Jago, consumed by envy, reveals his deceptive nature. He plants seeds of doubt, turning into nightmares and jealousy, consuming Otello and driving him mad. In a world of war and intrigue, Desdemona seeks a kindred spirit but finds death.

TOSCA

Floria Tosca and Mario Cavaradossi are lovers. When Cavaradossi is arrested by the evil police chief Scarpia, Tosca seeks him out to secure Cavaradossi's freedom, but tragedy ensues. None of the three will see the sunset of the next day. A dark piece of opera history with Verismo influences. Recommended for ages 15+. A digital introduction is available.

COFO & Stars in Concert präsentieren: all you need is love!

The successful musical "all you need is love!" about the Beatles returns to the stage for its 25th anniversary. The musical biography tells the story of the band from their beginnings as a backing band in Hamburg to their world fame, featuring over 30 of their greatest hits. The original band from Las Vegas "Twist & Shout" embodies the Beatles with live performances and acting, recreating the atmosphere of the 60s. The two-act musical covers the band's journey from Hamburg to their last concert in London, showcasing their impact on music, fashion, and culture.

Arnold Böcklin's paintings were highly regarded in the late 19th century, inspiring artists like Klinger, Hofmannsthal, Brahms, and Busoni. Reger's Böcklin Suite includes pieces inspired by "The Isle of the Dead", "Bacchanal", "The Hermit Fiddler", and "Play of the Waves". Cellist Julius Klengel premiered both Strauss's and Reger's works at the Gewandhaus. Klengel's student, Rudolf Metzmacher, father of conductor Ingo Metzmacher, created an edition of Schumann's Cello Concerto that's still used today.

"Das Rheingold" sets the stage for Wagner's tetralogy, exploring love versus power. Alberich steals the Rhinegold, Wotan builds Valhalla, and a chain of events unfolds, marked by Alberich's curse and Fafner's fratricide. The Leipzig Opera's 2013 production, conducted by Ulf Schirmer, highlighted the comedic aspects of this shortest "Ring" opera.

Queen ist eine der größten Rockbands aller Zeiten.
