Trumpeter Alison Balsom hailed Wynton Marsalis' trumpet concerto as the most significant in 200 years, surpassing even Hummel's in its diverse use of the trumpet's capabilities. The piece journeys through various classical and jazz styles. Inspired by spirituals and Native American music during his time in the US, Dvořák's 9th Symphony reflects a new world of possibilities and cultural diversity, becoming his greatest success.

Lisa Streich's ISHJÄRTA explores the coexistence of two emotions. Schumann's Violin Concerto, initially unpublished due to technical difficulties, is now a staple. Shostakovich's Symphony No. 6, diverging from his usual style, evokes spring, joy, and youth, moving from a slow start to a wild gallop.

Shakespeare's Hamlet has always fascinated artists and composers. Hans Abrahamsen focuses on Ophelia, creating a song cycle from her perspective based on her limited lines. Tchaikovsky also composed Hamlet-inspired pieces. This concert blends music and dramatic performance, reflecting the importance of vocal delivery in Shakespeare's time.

To celebrate the New York Philharmonic's 150th anniversary, Olivier Messiaen composed ÉCLAIRS SUR L’AU-DELÀ, a large-scale orchestral work for 128 musicians inspired by Christian themes and Australian birdsong. Camille Saint-Saëns' Piano Concerto No. 5, inspired by Nubian songs and Oriental influences, is described as a musical journey from Egypt to the Far East. This symphony concert features a collaboration between the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Freiburg University of Music, with world star Kit Armstrong.

The Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Ektoras Tartanis, performs works by Ravel, Prokofiev, and Stravinsky. Ravel's "Daphnis et Chloé" Suite No. 1 evokes ancient Greek pastorals. Stravinsky's "Firebird" Suite is based on Russian folklore.
