Lisa Streich's "ISHJÄRTA" explores the coexistence of two emotions. Schumann's Violin Concerto, initially unpublished, is now a beloved piece. Shostakovich's Symphony No. 6, meant to evoke spring and youth, departs from his usual dramatic style, building from a slow movement to a wild gallop.

Trumpeter Alison Balsom hailed Wynton Marsalis' trumpet concerto as the most significant in 200 years, surpassing even Hummel's in its diverse use of the trumpet's capabilities. The piece journeys through various classical and jazz styles. Inspired by spirituals and Native American music during his time in the US, Dvořák's 9th Symphony reflects a new world of possibilities and cultural diversity, becoming his greatest success.

Shakespeare's Hamlet has always fascinated artists and composers. Hans Abrahamsen focuses on Ophelia, creating a song cycle from her perspective based on her few lines. Tchaikovsky also composed Hamlet-inspired pieces. The concert features music by Abrahamsen and Tchaikovsky, reflecting Hamlet's enduring influence.

The Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra opens its first symphony concert of 2024 with Carola Bauckholt's ATEMPAUSE, a work reminiscent of music from the Industrial Revolution. The concert also features Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 2 with soloist Sibylle Mahni, and Bruckner's Symphony No. 4, "The Romantic," offering a majestic and warming experience.

Celebrate New Year's Eve with a dazzling musical firework display featuring Handel's Fireworks Music, Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor, and Max Richter's Recomposed: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons, performed by the Philharmonic Orchestra and violinist Elena Urioste, conducted by André de Ridder. A spectacular start to a hopefully peaceful 2025.

Semesterkonzert des KHG-Orchester Freiburg - Rott und Rachmaninow

The KHG Orchestra, led by their new conductor Leonhard Kreutzmann, will perform at the Konzerthaus Freiburg on January 18, 2025. They will play Hans Rott's Symphony No. 1 and Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with pianist Deren Wang.

Die schwedische Mezzosopranistin Nina Stemme zählt seit drei Jahrzehnten zu den weltbesten Stimmen, nicht nur auf der Opernbühne. Die für ihre erfüllende Ausdruckstiefe und ihr balsamisches Melos gerühmte Sängerin ist auch im Liedfach und da speziell bei Gustav Mahler ein Erlebnis.Mit dem Königlichen Philharmonischen Orchester Stockholm, das seit 2023 von Ryan Bancroft geleitet wird, taucht Nina Stemme jetzt in die ergreifenden und ebenfalls empfindsamen Welten der »Kindertotenlieder« ein, die Mahler 1904, ein Jahr vor dem Verlust seines eigenen Kindes, schrieb. Zuvor spielt das Orchester von der schwedischen Komponistin Andrea Tarrodi eine zeitgenössische Hommage an Ligurien. Das Konzertfinale gehört dann Tschaikowskys von wilder Leidenschaft aufgeladene »Schicksalssinfonie« Nr. 5.
