Universitätsmusik Hamburg cordially invites you to a musical event that celebrates the cultural exchange between the symphony orchestra and chamber choir of the University of Hamburg and the University Choir of LMU Munich. The impressive »German Requiem« by Johannes Brahms, which will unfold its touching power on this evening, will take centre stage. Over 200 talented musicians will perform together on stage. The evening begins with the solemn overture to Wagner’s »Parsifal«, which prepares the audience for the climax of the concert. The concert will be conducted by Thomas Posth.

Zuhören soll bei diesem Werk trotz des grandiosen Klangs nicht zum Hörgenuss werden, ein beharrlicher Stachel mahnt: Nach elf Stunden Bombardement hatte die deutsche Luftwaffe im Zweiten Weltkrieg den größten Teil der mittelenglischen Stadt Coventry in Schutt und Asche gelegt, die Kathedrale St. Michael völlig zerstört.Zu Wiedereinweihung der Kathedrale schrieb Britten sein Requiem, als Mahnung und Anklage- Er ergänzte den lateinischen Text der Totenmesse mit Gedichten seines wenigen Tage vor dem Ende des Ersten Weltkriegs gefallenen Landsmannes Wilfred Owen, Texte die bis heute ihre beklemmende Aktualität behalten haben.

Really old and extremely lively: For many seasons now, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin has been demonstrating how thrilling music from the 17th to the early 19th century can sound in its own series at the Konzerthaus Berlin.Bach's „St Matthew Passion“ was premiered for the second time in 1829 - in the Singakademie building in Berlin, which is now home to the Maxim Gorki Theatre. The conductor was Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, who was only twenty years old. He paved the way for a Bach renaissance with the version he arranged and shortened. In the era of Viennese Classicism, Bach's music had simply hardly ever been performed. The Passion, however, which was first presented to the congregation of St Thomas' Church in Leipzig in 1727, is one of the most haunting musical depictions of the story of the crucifixion.

Semesterkonzert des KHG-Orchester Freiburg - Rott und Rachmaninow

The KHG Orchestra, led by their new conductor Leonhard Kreutzmann, will perform at the Konzerthaus Freiburg on January 18, 2025. They will play Hans Rott's Symphony No. 1 and Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 with pianist Deren Wang.

Beethoven's Second Symphony, composed during a time of personal despair and increasing deafness, is surprisingly cheerful and exuberant. This concert, exclusively for students in grades 3-6, explores the orchestra and its instruments in Beethoven's time, examining how he used them to create timeless music. The concert lasts approximately 60 minutes without intermission. Educational materials will be available.

90 Jahre und kein bisschen leise! Getreu diesem Motto krönt das Erste Kölner Akkordeon-Orchester sein 90-jähriges Bestehen durch einen mitreißenden Abend auf höchstem musikalischem Niveau. Sein unvergleichlicher Klang und seine künstlerische Vielseitigkeit haben das Orchester in den vergangenen 90 Jahren auf Bühnen in aller Welt geführt, und seine filigran ausgefeilten Arrangements begeisterten dabei das Publikum unter anderem in den USA, Kanada, Namibia und Brasilien. Bereits zum fünften Mal wird das Erste Kölner Akkordeon-Orchester nun seine Anhänger in der Kölner Philharmonie verzaubern. Dabei freut es sich auf »Mr. Good Life« Tom Gaebel, der sich mit seinem jugendhaften Charme enthusiastisch über die Bühnen Europas singt und swingt sowie den Kölner Chor »Die Erben«, der wie kein anderer harmonische Präzision mit leidenschaftlichem Ausdruck vereint.Ein rauschendes Fest, mit dem das Erste Kölner Akkordeon-Orchester sich und seinen einzigartigen Klang zelebriert!​
