Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio, composed between 1734 and 1735, is a monumental work celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Each part, from the announcement of the birth to the adoration of the kings, corresponds to a specific liturgical period. Rich music, including festive choruses, intimate arias, and vivid orchestrations, makes this a timeless masterpiece.

75 Jahre Akkordeon-Orchester Hamburg-Eimsbüttel

The Akkordeon-Orchester Hamburg-Eimsbüttel von 1949 e.V. (AOE) is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. The highlight of the anniversary year is the autumn concert in the Recital Hall of the Laeiszhalle. The AOE is looking forward to showing the audience how versatile this instrument is and offers a colourful mixture of pieces ranging from classical to pop. Conductor Stefanie Perl-Kindel will conduct the concert together with guest conductor, composer and arranger Tobias Dalhof. The ensemble of the Hamburg-Eimsbüttel Accordion Orchestra under the direction of Andreas Schulze will also be taking part, as it has done for decades.

40 Jahre das junge Orchester NRW

Gustav Mahler's 5th Symphony starts with a four-note motif, resembling Beethoven's 5th. Reflecting the era's upheaval, the symphony features stark contrasts, from somber marches to triumphant brass chorales. Mahler's focus on polyphony weaves through the composition. He considered it a "completely new style," possibly influenced by his love for and marriage to Alma Schindler in 1902. The 'Adagietto,' seen as a declaration of love to Alma, gained fame, notably through Visconti's 'Death in Venice.' The junge orchester NRW celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.

Kölner Jugendchor St. Stephan

Mit Freude und Hingabe begeistern seit vier Jahrzehnten die jugendlichen Sängerinnen und Sänger um Chorleiter Michael Kokott ihr Publikum. Das facettenreiche Programm reicht vom A-cappella-Arrangement von Popsongs über Gospels bis zu kölschen Tönen. Im zweistündigen Programm lädt das Ensemble zum Zuhören und Mitsingen ein.

Rodenkirchener KammerChor und Orchester

Joseph Haydn's "The Creation" impressively portrays the biblical story of creation. The predominantly beautiful aspects highlighted in this 1798 oratorio feel almost utopian today, amidst crises and environmental disasters. Haydn's music, full of wit and virtuosity, uplifts and reminds us of our existence. Based on an English libretto inspired by Milton's "Paradise Lost", it also has a German version by Gottfried van Swieten.

Die traditionsreiche Konzertreihe der Odenwaldstadt Erbach feiert Jubiläum und das hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt feiert mit einem Kammerkonzert der Extra-Klasse mit. Großbesetzte Bläser-Kammermusik ist im Konzertleben rar. Bedauerlich besonders, wenn man an so eindrucksvolle Werke wie das »Parthia«-Oktett des jungen Beethoven und Dvořáks große Serenade denkt. Im »Jubiläumskonzert – 70 Jahre Konzerte in der Elfenbeinstadt Erbach« sind beide zu genießen – in all ihrer Klangfülle, Virtuosität und Pracht. Und dies mit den hervorragenden Musikerinnen und Musikern des hr-Sinfonieorchesters Frankfurt. Eine Gelegenheit die es nur selten gibt.

50 Jahre Weltfrauentag

Must we still talk about it? About the role of women in society, at work and in music? Absolutely! Equality between men and women may be the law, but not yet the reality everywhere. There is hardly a better opportunity to talk about it than on International Women's Day. The Bremen Philharmonic dedicates itself to the topic with Konstantia Gourzi, one of today's most distinguished conductors and composers, who will discuss the self-image, importance, and visibility of women in music with director Guido Gärtner and conductor Hansjörg Albrecht.
