Mon, Mar 4, 2024, 20:00
50 years ago, Barclay James Harvest and founder Les Horloyd started their musical journey in Manchester. Probably the most subtle representatives of Classical Rock came together in 1967 and have been delighting audiences with their melancholic classical rock and esoteric spherical sounds. Now the British band is going on tour in Germany again.

Two pop-cultural icons come together here: With their joint live programme »Das Letzte Mahl«, Xatar and heavytones break down genre boundaries and mix trademark soul/funk/jazz sound with hard rap from the street. When explosive brass sections, driving percussion, funky guitars and vintage keyboard pads meet gangster rap with ruthless lyrics, it promises nothing less than a new level of hip hop and energetic live entertainment.

James Gaffigan

Sat, Nov 5, 2022, 19:00
James Gaffigan (Conductor), Ramón Ortega Quero (Oboe), Mor Biron (Bassoon), Radoslaw Szulc (Violin), Giorgi Kharadze (Cello), Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks
“My Fifth Symphony is an accursed creation. No one understands it.” Only after Mahler’s death did the initial incomprehension change to admiration for this forward-looking piece. Yearning for death and affirmation of life, Weltschmerz and fulfilment, sorrow and joy: all lie side-by-side in this symphony, as so often in Mahler. It opens with a funeral march, its centre is a Ländler followed by a musical declaration of love, and it ends in an apotheosis. James Gaffigan precedes Mahler’s trailblazing sonic universe with Haydn’s Sinfonia concertante, a work no less modern for its own era. By having four solo instruments (oboe, bassoon, violin and cello) stand out from the orchestral tutti, Haydn situates the piece between an instrumental concerto and a symphony – a welcome task for soloists from the ranks of the orchestra.

James' Choice

Thu, Oct 31, 2024, 20:00
Konzerthaus Berlin, Großer Saal (Berlin)
Evamaria Salcher (Speaker)
Weiterlesen Weniger anzeigen

Rumours of Fleetwood Mac

Mon, Mar 25, 2024, 20:00
Laeiszhalle, Großer Saal (Hamburg)
Jess Harwood (Lead vocals), James Harrison (Lead guitar), James Harrison (Vocals), Scott Poley (Guitar), Étienne Girard (Bass guitar), Sophie Worsley (Keyboards), Sophie Worsley (Lead vocals), Dave Goldberg (Keyboards), Dave Goldberg (Lead vocals), Allan Cosgrove (Drums)
In 1969, Fleetwood Mac sold more records than the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. The band’s album »Rumours« from 1977 is one of the most successful albums in music history. No wonder that a huge fan base rallied around the band – and still does today! »Rumours of Fleetwood Mac« was established in 1999 to pay tribute to this unique band that shaped the zeitgeist of the 60s to the 90s. To call this band, consisting of seven musicians, a tribute band would be too short-sighted. »It’s about their music« is their tour motto, which they decided on several years ago. In this sense, they try to perform the music of Fleetwood Mac as faithfully as possible and, above all, to revive the spirit of this worldwide celebrated band and its time. The love of Fleetwood Mac’s music has been embodied by the Liverpool-based band for the past 24 years as they tour America, Canada, the UK and Europe – and even with the blessing of the original band’s co-founder and drummer, Mick Fleetwood: »An extraordinary emotive performance of Fleetwood Mac!«

Kuult

Fri, Apr 5, 2024, 20:00
Laeiszhalle, Kleiner Saal (Hamburg)
Chris Werner (Vocals), Andreas Köckerbauer (Guitar), Andreas Köckerbauer (Keyboard), Christian de Crau (Bass), Christian de Crau (Guitar)
With a title like »Nackt«, the band Kuult presents an incredible musical soul striptease. Frontman Chris Werner opens up to his audience like never before. The band has matured and grown up. Existential worries often make them rethink. More thoughtful, more settled and yet (or precisely because of this) Kuult’s positive up-tempo numbers still shoot out of the starting blocks as usual and then the cool rollercoaster ride begins.

Angus & Julia Stone

Sat, Jun 1, 2024, 19:00
Laeiszhalle, Großer Saal (Hamburg)
Julia Stone (Vocals), Angus Stone (Vocals)
Some music is there to sing along loudly, others to let your emotions run free at the end of a long day - and still others to let your thoughts run free and refocus on the big picture. The Australian sibling duo Angus & Julia Stone have been providing material for the latter for almost 20 years, releasing songs that resemble a musical view across the vastness of the sea.
