Laeiszhalle, Großer Saal (Hamburg)
Rod Eldridge (Tenor), Garfield Buckley (Tenor), Warren Thomas (Tenor), Ricky Cort (Tenor), Roger Thomas (Bariton), Dwight Stewart (Bariton), »Kelz« Mitchell (Bass)
Naturally 7 create the multi-faceted sound cosmos of a whole band from the sound of the drums to the bass, the guitar, the harmonica or even the trombone – and completely without instruments! The seven men sing a cappella, but they are not comparable with many other groups of this genre, because only a few achieve such a perfect sound. Sometimes it’s R’n’B, soul or hip hop, sometimes gospel, pop or even rock. In the programme »N7 @the Movies« Naturally 7 performs great songs from movies and musicals like »Titanic«, »West Side Story«, »Grease«, »8 Mile«, »Saturday Night Fever« and many more.

Bertram Engel

Mon, Jan 13, 2025, 20:00
Laeiszhalle, Großer Saal (Hamburg)
Bertram Engel (Drums), Bertram Engel (Reading), & Band
From the Westphalian province to rock star – this dream came true for Bertram Engel in 1976 when Udo Lindenberg signed the then 17-year-old for the legendary Panikorchester. A few years later, another superstar of German rock music, Peter Maffay, hired him as a permanent band member. Bertram Engel has now been in the spotlight with the two for almost five decades, sharing unique moments and destinies with them on and off stage. As a drummer, he is the pulse that drives and holds the band together. In his book, Engel tells of his exciting life as a rock musician, full of unrivalled anecdotes about the stars he has performed with. At the Laeiszhalle, Bertram Engel not only reads from the book, but also plays songs he wrote for Peter Maffay and Udo Lindenberg.

Irreversible Entanglements feat. Moor Mother

Wed, May 29, 2024, 20:30
Elbphilharmonie, Kleiner Saal (Hamburg)
Moor Mother (Spoken word), Aquiles Navarro (Trumpet), Keir Neuringer (Saxophon), Luke Stewart (Bass), Tcheser Holmes (Drums)
Since forming in 2015, the band Irreversible Entanglements has been one of the leading voices in contemporary free jazz. With uncompromising songs, the five musicians draw attention to social and political ills and abuses, highlighting injustices such as the oppression of women, discrimination against people of color, ignorance of colonial crimes and the exploitation of nature. At the same time, the direct and unencrypted words of the poet and spoken-word artist Camae Ayewa, aka »Moor Mother«, also encourage people to reject the status quo now, and to actively work for a better future in freedom and dignity. On the fourth studio album »Protect Your Light« (2023), Moor Mother’s profound lyrics are combined with catchy melodies, ecstatic and impulsive improvisations by Keir Neuringer (saxophone) and Aquiles Navarro (trumpet), and the danceable rhythms of Tcheser Holmes (drums) and Luke Steward (bass). An impressive package that seeks – and finds – musical answers to the pressing social questions of our time.

Rumours of Fleetwood Mac

Mon, Mar 25, 2024, 20:00
Laeiszhalle, Großer Saal (Hamburg)
Jess Harwood (Lead vocals), James Harrison (Lead guitar), James Harrison (Vocals), Scott Poley (Guitar), Étienne Girard (Bass guitar), Sophie Worsley (Keyboards), Sophie Worsley (Lead vocals), Dave Goldberg (Keyboards), Dave Goldberg (Lead vocals), Allan Cosgrove (Drums)
In 1969, Fleetwood Mac sold more records than the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. The band’s album »Rumours« from 1977 is one of the most successful albums in music history. No wonder that a huge fan base rallied around the band – and still does today! »Rumours of Fleetwood Mac« was established in 1999 to pay tribute to this unique band that shaped the zeitgeist of the 60s to the 90s. To call this band, consisting of seven musicians, a tribute band would be too short-sighted. »It’s about their music« is their tour motto, which they decided on several years ago. In this sense, they try to perform the music of Fleetwood Mac as faithfully as possible and, above all, to revive the spirit of this worldwide celebrated band and its time. The love of Fleetwood Mac’s music has been embodied by the Liverpool-based band for the past 24 years as they tour America, Canada, the UK and Europe – and even with the blessing of the original band’s co-founder and drummer, Mick Fleetwood: »An extraordinary emotive performance of Fleetwood Mac!«

Laeiszhalle, Kleiner Saal (Hamburg)
Chris Werner (Vocals), Andreas Köckerbauer (Guitar), Andreas Köckerbauer (Keyboard), Christian de Crau (Bass), Christian de Crau (Guitar)
With a title like »Nackt«, the band Kuult presents an incredible musical soul striptease. Frontman Chris Werner opens up to his audience like never before. The band has matured and grown up. Existential worries often make them rethink. More thoughtful, more settled and yet (or precisely because of this) Kuult’s positive up-tempo numbers still shoot out of the starting blocks as usual and then the cool rollercoaster ride begins.
