Last season, Julia Hamos made a highly successful debut performing Ligeti’s virtuosic Piano Concerto with the Boulez Ensemble. For her first solo recital, the young Hungarian­-American pianist, who studied with Sir András Schiff at the Barenboim­-Said Akademie, has chosen rarely heard pieces by Kurtág and Janáček, in a program bookended by Mozart’s A­-minor Sonata K. 310 and Schumann’s monumental C-­major Fantasy.

50 years ago, Barclay James Harvest and founder Les Horloyd started their musical journey in Manchester. Probably the most subtle representatives of Classical Rock came together in 1967 and have been delighting audiences with their melancholic classical rock and esoteric spherical sounds. Now the British band is going on tour in Germany again.

Rumours of Fleetwood Mac

In 1969, Fleetwood Mac sold more records than the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. The band’s album »Rumours« from 1977 is one of the most successful albums in music history. No wonder that a huge fan base rallied around the band – and still does today! »Rumours of Fleetwood Mac« was established in 1999 to pay tribute to this unique band that shaped the zeitgeist of the 60s to the 90s. To call this band, consisting of seven musicians, a tribute band would be too short-sighted. »It’s about their music« is their tour motto, which they decided on several years ago. In this sense, they try to perform the music of Fleetwood Mac as faithfully as possible and, above all, to revive the spirit of this worldwide celebrated band and its time. The love of Fleetwood Mac’s music has been embodied by the Liverpool-based band for the past 24 years as they tour America, Canada, the UK and Europe – and even with the blessing of the original band’s co-founder and drummer, Mick Fleetwood: »An extraordinary emotive performance of Fleetwood Mac!«

Kuult

With a title like »Nackt«, the band Kuult presents an incredible musical soul striptease. Frontman Chris Werner opens up to his audience like never before. The band has matured and grown up. Existential worries often make them rethink. More thoughtful, more settled and yet (or precisely because of this) Kuult’s positive up-tempo numbers still shoot out of the starting blocks as usual and then the cool rollercoaster ride begins.

In the Finnish national epic »Kalevala«, the magical singer Väinämöinen makes a stringed plucked instrument from the jaws of a giant pike and a second one from birch wood. As he plays, all the animals of the forest come to him and even the people stop their work to listen to this Nordic Orpheus. The sounds of the so-called »kantele« – a box zither that is not only common in Finland, but also in Estonia and north-west Russia – enchant listeners to this day.

HAEVN

Since their debut album »Eyes Closed« from 2018, HAEVN have built up a considerable fan base – no wonder, as their sound provides the perfect counterbalance to the turbulent times we live in. On tour with their new album »Wide Awake«, they are also making a stop in Hamburg.
