DER FREISCHÜTZ

Sun, Mar 16, 2025, 17:00
Gewandhausorchester (Orchestra), Yura Yang (Conductor), Christian von Götz
Weber's 1817 opera "Der Freischütz" tells the story of Max, a hunter whose future depends on a shooting trial. Overwhelmed by pressure, he considers a pact with the devil, a path already taken by Kaspar. Max's fiancée, Agathe, shares his anxieties about fate. The opera explores themes of societal pressures, fear of failure, and the battle between good and evil in a world where the characters' beliefs shape their actions. Weber's music captures the anxieties of a generation, making "Der Freischütz" a landmark work of German Romantic opera.

DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE

Fri, Apr 25, 2025, 19:30
Gewandhausorchester (Orchestra), Yura Yang (Conductor), Matthias Davids (Inszenierung)
