Verborgene Tiefe unter der scheinbaren Einfachheit
Tabakquartier, Halle 1 (Bremen)
Must we still talk about it? About the role of women in society, at work and in music? Absolutely! Equality between men and women may be the law, but not yet the reality everywhere. There is hardly a better opportunity to talk about it than on International Women's Day. The Bremen Philharmonic dedicates itself to the topic with Konstantia Gourzi, one of today's most distinguished conductors and composers, who will discuss the self-image, importance, and visibility of women in music with director Guido Gärtner and conductor Hansjörg Albrecht.
This musical reading explores the rare phenomenon of women in 18th-century French salon culture. Historian Dagmar Freist reads texts by Émilie du Châtelet, a renowned scientist, and others. Baroque musicians perform works by Elisabeth-Claude Jacquet de la Guerre and more.
At Sunday's chamber music concert in Hall 1 of the Tabakquartier, alternating ensembles from the ranks of the Bremen Philharmonic will present some of their favorite works from the chamber music repertoire.
Hall 1 transforms into an interactive concert venue, guiding audiences through unique sonic experiences. Soloists and chamber ensembles scatter throughout the space, leading listeners on a sonic journey. The experience culminates in the grand orchestral hall, where audience and musicians swap places. The audience relaxes on stage while musicians perform from the stands. Conceived and directed by violinist Lenamaria Kühner and director Vivien Hohnholtz.
From June 6th to 9th, 2025, the Bremen Brass Festival "dat brasst" returns for its third edition. Brass enthusiasts can look forward to performances by the Bremen Philharmonic Brass and the BRASSerie, family concerts with the Bremen Town Musicians, and guest ensembles at the Tabakquartier.
