Spangenberg plays Nirvana

Date & Time
Wed, Oct 9, 2024, 20:00
The idea of performing the songs of the legendary grunge band Nirvana on just the piano is obvious and unimaginable in equal measure. Two worlds that couldn’t be more different collide, yet they are emotionally far more similar than they may seem. Unlike Nirvana, Christoph Spangenberg will hopefully not be destroying any pianos, but he will be using all means at his disposal to bring classics such as »About a Girl«, »Come as You Are« and »Smells Like Teen Spirit«... Icelandic pianist Víkingur Ólafsson is one of the most acclaimed soloists in the classical music world. With his warm touch and passionate musicality, he attracts huge audiences. He returns on two more occasions during the season, first in a recital where he plays Beethoven's last three piano sonatas, and then with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Brahms's second piano concerto. For this first visit, it's Chief Conductor Ryan Bancroft who conducts. The concert opens with Anders Hillborg's dazzlingly elegant Sound Atlas. The glass harmonica – an instrument where fingers are rubbed on tuned glass bells – plays a significant role in the piece, contributing to the music's crystalline character. Rumours of Fleetwood Mac

Mon, Mar 25, 2024, 20:00
Laeiszhalle, Großer Saal (Hamburg)
Jess Harwood (Lead vocals), James Harrison (Lead guitar), James Harrison (Vocals), Scott Poley (Guitar), Étienne Girard (Bass guitar), Sophie Worsley (Keyboards), Sophie Worsley (Lead vocals), Dave Goldberg (Keyboards), Dave Goldberg (Lead vocals), Allan Cosgrove (Drums)
In 1969, Fleetwood Mac sold more records than the Beatles or the Rolling Stones. The band’s album »Rumours« from 1977 is one of the most successful albums in music history. No wonder that a huge fan base rallied around the band – and still does today! »Rumours of Fleetwood Mac« was established in 1999 to pay tribute to this unique band that shaped the zeitgeist of the 60s to the 90s. To call this band, consisting of seven musicians, a tribute band would be too short-sighted. »It’s about their music« is their tour motto, which they decided on several years ago. In this sense, they try to perform the music of Fleetwood Mac as faithfully as possible and, above all, to revive the spirit of this worldwide celebrated band and its time. The love of Fleetwood Mac’s music has been embodied by the Liverpool-based band for the past 24 years as they tour America, Canada, the UK and Europe – and even with the blessing of the original band’s co-founder and drummer, Mick Fleetwood: »An extraordinary emotive performance of Fleetwood Mac!«

They regularly collaborate with musical partners such as Nils Landgren, Fünf Sterne deluxe and the NDR Bigband. TOYTOY now celebrate the release of their eagerly anticipated debut album inside the Elbphilharmonie, after rocking the Elbphilharmonie forecourt back in 2021, when the musicians delivered an unforgettable evening of music in the open air at the »Hope’n’Air« festival.

Laeiszhalle, Kleiner Saal (Hamburg)
Chris Werner (Vocals), Andreas Köckerbauer (Guitar), Andreas Köckerbauer (Keyboard), Christian de Crau (Bass), Christian de Crau (Guitar)
With a title like »Nackt«, the band Kuult presents an incredible musical soul striptease. Frontman Chris Werner opens up to his audience like never before. The band has matured and grown up. Existential worries often make them rethink. More thoughtful, more settled and yet (or precisely because of this) Kuult’s positive up-tempo numbers still shoot out of the starting blocks as usual and then the cool rollercoaster ride begins.
