FLO »Canzoni di sale«

All the things this woman can do! Floriana Cangiano, FLO for short, is a songwriter, singer, author and actress. As one of the most versatile artists in Italy, this Neapolitan lady is showcasing a packed programme as a trio with »Canzone di sale«. After singing studies and theatre productions, FLO gave the world her first album in 2014 and revealed a musical cosmos in which she exuberantly linked canzone and chanson, pop and Latin, jazz and folk. Her sonic and poetic influences range, besides the world of southern Italy, from Billie Holiday via Cesaria Evora to Frida Kahlo and Pablo Neruda. FLO is a specialist in little everyday stories, which she tells with passion and enigmatic flavour – and always from a strong female perspective. In the trio with the guitarist Federico Luongo and the multi-instrumentalist Francesco Di Cristofaro (bouzouki, accordion, flutes), she tells of love, courage and fate sometimes wistfully, sometimes wryly, then again dramatically. Her two companions create an onomatopoeic setting which carries you off into Mediterranean skies and scents.

The fourth symphony concert, concluding the Puccini Year 2024, focuses entirely on the Italian composer's work, featuring rare instrumental pieces like the "Preludio sinfonico" and "Capriccio sinfonico." These works, composed during his studies, hint at his future operatic style. The concert also includes his "Messa di Gloria," a masterpiece blending orchestral splendor, operatic melodies, and sacred music.

Mozart’s Requiem in D minor and Beethoven’s Fifth – the Prague Symphony Orchestra present two spine-tingling masterpieces for orchestra and choir in one concert. Brilliant, strong-voiced support is provided by four soloists and the Coro di Praga.

In customary tradition, the Prague Symphony Orchestra and the Coro di Praga give a guest performance at the Laeiszhalle to round off the year. On the programme are two of the most monumental works in music history: Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and Carl Orff’s choral masterpiece »Carmina Burana«, which brought the composer fame overnight in 1937.

A borderless Christmas!Cantemus and the choir Homin, from Lviv, Ukraine, sing in Christmas! Welcome to this concert, at which 24 singers cross borders to share their Christmas traditions and unite them with our own in a unique holiday programme. Lucia and company are also in attendance!At this concert, Cantemus sings Ukrainian Christmas music together with Homin – in Ukrainian. Homin sings Swedish Christmas music together with Cantemus – in Swedish. Cantemus and Homin then sing music from their respective Christmas traditions.Lucia, together with her handmaidens and star boys, pays us a visit from a music school in Stockholm. Saint Nicholas, considered a national saint in Ukraine, may also drop by to sing with Homin.If you’ve seen the series Chernobyl, then you have heard Homin! The choir sings the Ukrainian song “Vichnaya Pamyat” on the show’s soundtrack. Founded in 1988 in Lviv, Homin has been considered Lviv’s municipal choir since 2003, with a mission to safeguard and develop the Ukrainian singing tradition. Homin has gained popularity not only at home in Ukraine, but also internationally. Since the war broke out, the choir has intensified its efforts to spread Ukrainian choral music both at home and abroad.Cantemus, an “academy of choral singing”, was formed in 1999 by Sofia and Göran Staxäng. For over 25 years, they have gathered over 7,000 choral singers of all ages and of various levels of experience. Their repertoire spans from Queen to Handel’s Messiah. Cantemus has performed at Konserthuset on several occasions together with world-class Swedish and international performers and professional music ensembles.
