Anna Vinnitskaya

Mon, Apr 28, 2025, 20:00
Anna Vinnitskaya (Piano)

For the chanteuse and songwriter, on the other hand, the desire for direct dialogue with her fans was fulfilled with extraordinary intensity. Admirers came in droves to experience the first solo live outings of the singer, who previously gave Rosenstolz, Gleis 8 and Silly an unmistakable voice. Anna Vinnitskaya Schostakowitsch 2. Klavierkonzert

Sat, Feb 15, 2025, 19:00
Anna Vinnitskaya (Piano), Mahler Chamber Orchestra und Teilnehmer*innen der MCO Academy NRW, Elim Chan (Conductor)
The Essen Philharmonic commemorates Dmitri Shostakovich's 50th death anniversary with four evenings this season. His works, often reflecting the somber Soviet reality, possess profound beauty. His second piano concerto, however, stands out as cheerful, brilliant, blissful, and spirited. Pianist Anna Vinnitskaya considers its second movement among the most beautiful music she knows. Equally stunning is Sergei Prokofiev's fifth symphony, composed in 1944, a "song to free and happy people." Elim Chan conducts the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, who, along with Vinnitskaya, prepare chamber music surprises. The concert has no intermission and includes a "Close-up" at 5:45 PM and a "Late Night" at 9 PM. A child-friendly introduction is also offered.

Anna Meredith & B'Rock Orchestra

Wed, Feb 12, 2025, 21:00
Konzerthaus Berlin, Großer Saal (Berlin)
B'Rock Orchestra, Anna Meredith (Sound), Nadja Zwiener (Baroque violin), Simon Hendry (Sound)
From the awakening of spring to the intensity of summer and the darkness of winter - ‘ANNO’ evokes the course of a year with Vivaldi's ‘Four Seasons’ and turns this extremely well-known music into something new once again. Combined with electro-acoustic compositions by Anna Meredith and a light show, the result is a one-hour concert performance that brings together electronic and baroque, complex and catchy. Anna Meredith is a composer, performer and producer. Her music moves between contemporary music, pop, electro and experimental rock. The B'Rock Orchestra from Ghent describes itself as a ‘forward-thinking period orchestra’ - an unusual baroque ensemble that performs on historical instruments with a view to the present and future. They characterise their style as ‘intuitive, ambitious and accessible’ and are always on the lookout for artists with whom they can realise visionary projects. Perfect for our festival and as a partner for Anna Meredith!

Anna Geniushene / Piano Recital

Sat, Mar 1, 2025, 19:30
Elbphilharmonie, Kleiner Saal (Hamburg)
Anna Geniushene (Piano)
The NDR describes her as the »new star in the pianist sky« and in fact Anna Geniushene has already been attracting attention for several years. The long-standing American magazine »Musical America« selected her as the Young Artist of the Month in July 2022 and was particularly impressed by her »powerful sound« and her »musical personality«. Also, the young Russian landed in first place in major competitions, such as the Leeds Piano Competition, Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Competition and the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition. The pianist is now a guest in the »Pianomania« series for the first time – with a varied programme fully in line with the theme of »Transcriptions«, which ranges from early Handel right up to the 20th century. In addition to two opera adaptations by Franz Liszt, you can also look forward to Fritz Kreisler’s bittersweet melodies »Liebesleid« and »Liebesfreud«, which none other than Sergei Rachmaninoff transposed from the violin to the piano. The six extremely solemn choral preludes from the quill of Johannes Brahms, which the Italian Ferruccio Busoni – perhaps the most ingenious arranger of the early modern period – arranged for the piano are in a completely different mood. Igor Stravinsky’s ballet fairy tale »The Firebird«, for which Italian pianist Guido Agosti created an extremely virtuoso piano arrangement from its flamboyant orchestral setting, is ultimately the brilliant conclusion.
