»Swing King« Andrej Hermlin and his big band embark on a journey to America in the 1930s, to the great era of a music that is currently experiencing a remarkable renaissance – swing! The repertoire includes numerous well-known but also rare original arrangements, melodies by the most famous orchestras of the swing era, such as Benny Goodman and Glenn Miller. Of course, songs from their recently released album »Swing Is On Parade« are not to be missed. The Swing Dance Orchestra is authentic down to the last detail: the sound, the arrangements, the microphones and the desks, the instruments and the wardrobe all correspond to the American originals of the time.
Andrej Hermlin and the Swing Dance Orchestra have dedicated themselves to the music of the golden 20s and 30s. Dressed in appropriate suits and without any electronic tricks, their concerts exude the charm and glamour of times past: from the birth of swing music in Harlem and American Christmas tunes to the classics of Duke Ellington and Glenn Miller. Andrej Hermlin has fulfilled a long-held dream and recreates one of the great moments of jazz history: together with his Swing Dance Orchestra he plays exactly the concert with which jazz icon Benny Goodman took Carnegie Hall by storm in 1938.
Every year the same Christmas routine? Tom Gaebel's "A Swinging Christmas" show offers a refreshing alternative. With his big band, he performs American Christmas evergreens and modern classics in a hot easy-listening sound, reminiscent of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Gaebel's show is a glamorous, high-spirited Vegas-style Christmas, packed with musical gifts and surprises. Perfect for those who want to swing into the holidays.
It doesn’t always have to be »O Tannenbaum«! For big band leader and singer Tom Gaebel, the annual Christmas shows are among the personal highlights in his concert calendar: »For me, it’s always a huge pleasure to present the audience with a show like Christmas in Las Vegas: full of glitz, glamour and good humour.«
Ronny Heinrich and his orchestra invite you to an atmospheric concert of Christmas sounds. In addition to classics such as »White Christmas«, »St. Petersburg Sleigh Ride« and melodies from »Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel«, traditional Christmas carols will of course be performed. Heinrich will be supported by the soprano Sophie-Magdalena Reuter and the American tenor Eric Fennell.
Four cellists from the Metropole Orkest, occasionally accompanied by drums and bass, create a full and soulful sound. Their album "Metrocelli" features orchestral pieces, pop songs, and jazz standards, including works by Daft Punk, Faithless, The Prodigy, and Stromae, taking listeners on an enjoyable musical journey.
Which work did Bach regard as his finest? There’s a good chance it might have been the Mass in B Minor. This programme presents the foundations of this masterpiece: three cantatas that Bach used at the end of his life, in the Mass in B Minor. The originals of what is maybe the very finest of Bach’s work“For example, the ‘Patrem omnipotentem’ originated from Gott, wie dein Name, so ist auch dein Ruhm, the ‘Osanna’ from Preise dein Glücke, gesegnetes Sachsen, and the ‘Agnus Dei’ from Lobet Gott in seinen Reichen. Richard Egarr leads the ensemble in these originals of what is maybe the very finest of Bach’s work. Egarr is a true specialist in early music, with his roots in English choral music. He likes to approach the music as if he is discovering it on the spot. Fresh and flowing, with a starring role for the vocals.
