The SummerConcerts powered by VriendenLoterij presents two months of wonderful concerts, from classical to jazz and from pop to film music. Top musicians from the Netherlands and around the world bring you all your favourite classical pieces, as well as video game music and hits from Broadway musicals.We also present a host of young talent in our summer concerts, including youth orchestras from Greece, Australia and Cuba, and top young classical soloists. After many of the concerts, we offer a meet-and-greet with the artists in an informal setting, or an afterparty with DJ in the Entrance Hall. In one of the world’s finest concert halls, there’s something for everyone this summer at The Concertgebouw!

This year's "her:voice" Composer Festival focuses on Alma Mahler, whose "Five Songs" will be performed in Jorma Panula's orchestral version. While Mahler's husband Gustav allegedly restricted her compositions, Charlotte Sohy published under the male pseudonym Charles. Sohy's late-Romantic symphony, begun during World War I, expresses a desire for peace. The program includes Kaija Saariaho's "Winter Sky" and Anna Clyne's "Color Field," inspired by a Rothko painting.

A Persian sultan, enraged by his unfaithful wife, murders a young woman every morning. A clever princess aims to end this terror through storytelling. This frame story from "One Thousand and One Nights" inspired Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade." A solo violin portrays the princess, while the orchestra depicts her stories of storms, caravans, feasts, and flying carpets.
