Let’s play ‘hot or cold’. Do you know a little boy who’s just getting to know people and the world and to learn about everything? Cold? He has a completely hard body but a soft heart? Still cold? I’ll also say that the little boy has a tendency to err from the truth, and with every lie he tells, his nose gets longer and longer. Warmer? So I’d add that this little boy has good intentions, but succumbs to various temptations – just like all of us! And his Daddy carved him out of an old piece of wood that talked. Hot! Yes, the protagonist of our musical play will be the world’s most famous marionette. Come and meet Pinocchio! Kołysz się i tocz! Do you know such a dance? Its funny name sounds like an instruction, and the whole world knows it – it’s rock and roll. This lively dance was born in North America. During our concert, we’ll talk about the energetic music and about the great friendship and passion that unites two friends. They danced rock and roll from an early age, devoting all their free time to practising. Each tournament brought them closer to realising their dream of making their favourite dance their main occupation and the purpose of their life. Are you curious how this story ended?

A Clay Vase

Among FeNek’s clutter, there’s an old clay vase. Just an ordinary vase, slightly dusty, a family heirloom... but don’t let that fool you! It’s not ordinary at all. Whenever music is played in the Concert Hall, wavy patterns always appear on it. A long line flashes when violinists draw their bows, tiny dots appear when a pianist’s fingers make a tinkling sound, or a little mouse flits by as a choir sings about it. The patterns and shapes change as quickly as the colourful sounds in the music. If you’re curious to find out what other secrets the clay vase holds, come to the concert at the Philharmonic, and don’t forget to bring a sheet of paper and a colourful marker. A Musical Bunch

FeNek is occasionally visited by a musical gang. So what is it? Well, a gang is a group of people who like and respect each other and are harmonious, not only at concerts. Every meeting brings new musical adventures: together they figure out how to give each other a tune, tap out a rhythm or catch a harmony, while asking each other strange questions. ‘Do tigers eat irises?’ ‘Which is better to have: feathers or quills?’ ‘Who’s the mysterious pumpkin eater?’ As you may have guessed, this is quite a crazy bunch, but they’re also sensitive and attentive to lyrical, romantic sounds... played, for example, on the piano. Attention! All music lovers are cordially invited to a great display of virtuosity! A trumpet in one corner, percussion in another, and a piano between them. The viola, often underestimated, will try to reconcile them. Each instrument will showcase its unique capabilities. What do you think – will they perform better solo, or is it worth joining forces and playing as an ensemble? Younger and older listeners will be told about the history and construction of these instruments. We’ll also consider why they sound so dignified, while not shying away from numerous musical embellishments.

Melancholy can be so beautiful! The indie folk pop of Amber & the Moon combines the gentle voice of lead singer Ronja Pöhlmann with acoustic arrangements of captivating fragility. Celestial and mysterious, the songs of their debut album »Things We’ve Got in Common« recount life with its ups and downs. Ronja herself describes it as »a warm blanket for the cold season which gives you comfort«. The best programme for a (probably rainy) autumn evening at the Elbphilharmonie! Amber & the Moon started as a solo project by Ronja Pöhlmann. In Jonathan Riedel, she got to know a versatile comrade-in-arms, who not only adds bass guitar, but also backing vocals. Now, there are five of them on tour and they enjoy the full band sound: »The band is an even larger musical sofa on which you can relax,« says Jonathan. »It is cool when a song also works as a duet, but grows again and becomes even bigger with the band,« adds Ronja.

FeNek knows that the magic of Christmas lies also in the unique music, which evokes memories of meeting loved ones, singing carols together and having fun in the snow or on the ice. Have you ever walked around the Old Town in Warsaw and along the cobbled streets from the Castle Square to the New Town Square? If so, you must know that you’ve walked in the footsteps of the old times, when Warsaw became the capital of Poland and King Sigismund III took up residence in the Royal Castle. To find out more about those times, all you have to do is come to the Philharmonic. We’ll tell you what secrets are hidden in the streets of the Old Town, what the fashionable clothes and games used to be. We’ll show you how music was played in the royal chambers and present beautiful instruments characteristic of those times. The concert will include instrumental pieces, court and feast songs, and will be accompanied by historical dance.
