Do you like listening to stories? Curling up in an armchair and casting your thoughts far away? Well, we have for you stories turned into sounds. Some of them take place among us, and we recognise in them familiar faces and situations. They take place in the world around us and can happen to anyone. But there are also fairy tales, which carry us far away, where no one has ever been before, beyond the mountains, beyond the forests, to the land of imagination, which will determine what our fairytale world will be like and who we will meet there. We invite you to join us on a musical journey from history to fable.

Over the years, this artist has created music for many TV and theatre productions for children and youngsters. The result of that work is the album Moon in a Bowl, which we have turned to in order to invite you to a unique and magical world in which many adventures, crazy journeys and meetings with your favourite book characters await you.

The spring wind rustles in the trees, sings merrily in birdsong, chases the clouds away, turns somersaults, fills the fields and meadows with sound... This concert will be filled with music conjured up by wind instruments: the singing flute, the mysterious clarinet, the lyrical oboe, the playful bassoon, the gentle horn and energetic percussion. We’ll blow notes, dance in rhythms, visit the court of a Chinese empress and listen to raindrops falling. Who is curious to know whether the sounds of the air are light as a feather or heavy as a storm? Who wants to find out how to conjure music from the air and look for spring in it?

The sound of jingle bells can be heard in the distance, the air is filled with the scents of Christmas trees and aromatic bakes, the world is beginning to sparkle with colours and lights, and the houses, gardens, forests and fields are wrapped in a white feather quilt. And at the Philharmonic? FeNek knows that the magic of Christmas lies also in the unique music, which evokes memories of meeting loved ones, singing carols together and having fun in the snow or on the ice. Christmas is about images and sometimes whole films of recorded stories. If you want to feel that special atmosphere, come to the concert at the Warsaw Philharmonic. When magical snow starts to fall in the Concert Hall, the stage and the auditorium will fill with the sounds of carols, winter songs and tunes from those favourite Christmas films we love watching each year. A Clay Vase

Among FeNek’s clutter, there’s an old clay vase. Just an ordinary vase, slightly dusty, a family heirloom... but don’t let that fool you! It’s not ordinary at all. Whenever music is played in the Concert Hall, wavy patterns always appear on it. A long line flashes when violinists draw their bows, tiny dots appear when a pianist’s fingers make a tinkling sound, or a little mouse flits by as a choir sings about it. The patterns and shapes change as quickly as the colourful sounds in the music. If you’re curious to find out what other secrets the clay vase holds, come to the concert at the Philharmonic, and don’t forget to bring a sheet of paper and a colourful marker. FeNek is occasionally visited by a musical gang. So what is it? Well, a gang is a group of people who like and respect each other and are harmonious, not only at concerts. Every meeting brings new musical adventures: together they figure out how to give each other a tune, tap out a rhythm or catch a harmony, while asking each other strange questions. ‘Do tigers eat irises?’ ‘Which is better to have: feathers or quills?’ ‘Who’s the mysterious pumpkin eater?’ As you may have guessed, this is quite a crazy bunch, but they’re also sensitive and attentive to lyrical, romantic sounds... played, for example, on the piano. Attention! All music lovers are cordially invited to a great display of virtuosity! A trumpet in one corner, percussion in another, and a piano between them. The viola, often underestimated, will try to reconcile them. Each instrument will showcase its unique capabilities. What do you think – will they perform better solo, or is it worth joining forces and playing as an ensemble? Younger and older listeners will be told about the history and construction of these instruments. We’ll also consider why they sound so dignified, while not shying away from numerous musical embellishments.

A matinee to celebrate the association's anniversary75 years ago, on 17 October 1949, our association was founded. Its aim was to build a new concert hall for the Berliner Philharmoniker, who had become homeless during World War II. The “Friends” formed a large citizens' initiative and, with their contributions and donation campaigns, made a significant impact on the opening of the Philharmonie, which was designed by Hans Scharoun, in 1963. But there was still a lot to do afterwards: The chamber music hall opened its doors in 1987, the orchestra received valuable instruments, and many major projects such as the Philharmoniker's Europakonzert were realised with our support. We want to celebrate this round birthday: with prominent guests and, of course, with great music played by members of the Berliner Philharmoniker. Afterwards, we will celebrate the anniversary together in the foyer.

A welcome matineeEvery orchestra is a living organism and is constantly changing: With the Berliner Philharmoniker, too, familiar faces leave and retire year after year. New musicians come in their place - and many of them quickly become audience favourites. We would like to use the summer matinee to introduce you to some of these newcomers. Among them is first principal viola Diyang Mei, who has already made history by being the first Chinese to join the orchestra. He has lived in Germany since 2014, where he won the prestigious ARD Music Competition in 2018. You can also look forward to the new principal timpanist, the young Austrian Vincent Vogel, who inherited his teacher Rainer Seegers in this position in 2022: almost a Philharmoniker dynasty. A total of four new members will be available to answer questions at this welcome matinee. And, of course, they will also inspire you with their instrumental skills.
