In March 2025, the Galakutschensaal will resonate with a special sound experience for kindergarten children and families. Children will dive into sound worlds, exciting stories, become rhythm researchers, and discover melodies. Participation and singing are just as important as listening attentively. Together with students from the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music Berlin and the Jazz Institute Berlin, children will explore all facets of music, get to know instruments, relax on cushions, or dance around the room.

Engelbert Humperdinck's popular opera Hansel and Gretel is often performed during the Advent and Christmas season. This year, a special family version will be played in the Apollosaal, featuring the brass section of the Staatskapelle. Ten musicians will accompany the fairytale with original sounds, familiar melodies, and poetic magic.

The Gürzenich Orchestra's "Filmreif" family concert explores pieces composed for films and classical works often used in cinema, demonstrating how music sparks imagination and brings stories to life.
Johann Strauss (son), the Waltz King, and Johannes Brahms, the austere composer, lived during the same period. Eight musicians from SWR Symphony Orchestra present their music using strings, clarinet, horn, and bassoon. A surprise program follows in the foyer. Duration: 90 minutes. Recommended for ages 5+.
