What Mozart experienced on his arduous carriage rides or with eccentric aristocratic patrons differs only to a limited extent from today’s odysseys with the harp on the Deutsche Bahn, sometimes bizarre concert promoters and crazy stage situations. Silke Aichhorn and Lisa Wellisch play works from Mozart to the present day and tell entertaining anecdotes from the world of classical music. A concert experience with tears of laughter guaranteed!

Lisa Batiashvili and Daniel Harding

Sat, Apr 27, 2024, 19:00
Philharmonie Berlin, Main Auditorium (Berlin)
Berliner Philharmoniker (Orchestra), Daniel Harding (Conductor), Lisa Batiashvili (Violin)
Lisa Batiashvili has enjoyed international success as the soloist in Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto. However, she has never played the piece with the Berliner Philharmoniker before. To perform the concerto as part of her residency is therefore a special event; “There is a great Brahms tradition here, characterised by a warm, dark sound and precise articulation,” she says. “I’m really looking forward to immersing myself in the Brahms sound of the orchestra.” The conductor is Daniel Harding, standing in for an indisposed Daniel Barenboim. Harding will also conduct Beethoven’s Fifth, a symphony that epitomises classicism in music.

Lisa Batiashvili | London Symphony Orchestra | Sir Antonio Pappano

Sun, Jun 1, 2025, 20:00
Lisa Batiashvili (Violin), London Symphony Orchestra (Ensemble), Sir Antonio Pappano (Conductor)

London Symphony Orchestra, Lisa Batiashvili (Violin), Sir Antonio Pappano (Conductor)
»Her playing is as precise as it is almost uninhibitedly lyrical, she warms, she enchants,« enthused the Süddeutsche Zeitung in 2023 after a concert featuring Lisa Batiashvili. The star violinist is now bringing one of the most beautiful works for her instrument to the Elbphilharmonie: Mozart’s Fifth Violin Concerto. The London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Sir Antonio Pappano will be her congenial partner, opening and closing the evening with works by Mozart fan Richard Strauss. With the mischievous Till Eulenspiegel and the multi-layered, lively »Heldenleben« (A Hero’s Life), Mozart’s masterpiece forms an ingenious concert triad.
