No conductor leads this chamber orchestra. Two experienced and sought-after chamber musicians, soloists, and Eisler professors, violinist Ulf Wallin and cellist Claudio Bohórquez, rehearse the concert program alongside the students. In the annual "Play&Lead Concerts" at the Konzerthaus Berlin, teachers and the ensemble meticulously work on highly demanding pieces. This offers valuable work experience for young instrumental students.

The Echo Klassik award-winning work »ÜberBach« is coming to the stage of the Elbphilharmonie. Sebastian Knauer has already celebrated great success worldwide with the piano concerto composed for him by Arash Safaian. The continuation of Johann Sebastian Bach’s music into today’s world of sound fascinates, touches and inspires. The second soloist on stage alongside Sebastian Knauer is the Danish vibraphonist Morten Friis, who recently stormed the international charts with his hit »Cynical« as the founder of the band Safri Duo. The two soloists will be accompanied by the internationally acclaimed Vienna Chamber Orchestra. Also on the programme are the 5th Brandenburg Concerto BWV 1050 and the Piano Concerto BWV 1052, two original works by J.S. Bach, as well as excerpts from »Souvenir de Florence« by Peter Tchaikovsky, the »Holberg Suite« by Edvard Grieg and the Serenade op. 20 by Edward Elgar.

At the centre of this concert evening are works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, interpreted by renowned artists and an orchestra that has dedicated itself to the spirit of the composer like no other. The award-winning clarinettist Sebastian Manz, internationally renowned for his virtuosity and emotional depth, presents Mozart's immortal Clarinet Concerto in A major. This masterpiece, characterised by floating lightness and soulful melody, is one of the most important concerts of classical music and promises an evening full of inspiration. Manz will be accompanied by the Folkwang Chamber Orchestra Essen, which is known for its energetic, innovative programmes and high musical quality. Founded 67 years ago and deeply rooted in the city of Essen and the Folkwang spirit, the orchestra under the direction of Johannes Klumpp has steadily expanded its profile as a leading Mozart interpreter.
