Kuhn, the organ builder, states that upholding tradition isn't nostalgia, but a testament to the vibrant present. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Essen Philharmonic and its Kuhn organ, exceptional organists Angela Metzger and Benjamin Righetti will perform a new piece by Michael Pelzel for two consoles. The closing concert of Orgelfestival.Ruhr2024 will feature six Ruhr organists on the Schuke organ.
Must we still talk about it? About the role of women in society, at work and in music? Absolutely! Equality between men and women may be the law, but not yet the reality everywhere. There is hardly a better opportunity to talk about it than on International Women's Day. The Bremen Philharmonic dedicates itself to the topic with Konstantia Gourzi, one of today's most distinguished conductors and composers, who will discuss the self-image, importance, and visibility of women in music with director Guido Gärtner and conductor Hansjörg Albrecht.
Founded 25 years ago by 25 enthusiasts with good voices, the pop and gospel choir Chorus Mind from Norderstedt continues to delight its audiences today. The enthusiasm for singing can be read from the lips of the now 60 men and women with every song. As their name suggests, they all have choral singing in mind. The repertoire and the range of their artistic work are enormous. With their director Martin Ziemsky, they make old church gospels sound just as good and sing along as the latest pop rhythms. They already have 130 songs in their oeuvre, which choirmaster Ziemsky arranges anew and with powerful vocals for each song. He studied music and teaches at the music school. His passion for choral singing is the programme. The audience can expect a journey through time from the beginnings of the choir to his almost perfect performance of great choral music. A treat for everyone who loves music and enjoys singing along! The jazz and pop choir Fanjazztic comes from Lübeck. This excellent a cappella choir is directed by vocal coach David Hofmann and has won the state choir competition twice. A feast for the ears to mark the anniversary.
The Mannheim String Quartet, founded 50 years ago in Mannheim, Germany, celebrates its anniversary with three chamber music masterpieces. They perform Mozart's G-major Quartet and Ravel's shimmering quartet. For Schubert's C-major Quintet, they collaborate with renowned cellist Maria Kliegel.
The Jewish Community of Frankfurt am Main celebrates its 75th anniversary. The hr-Symphony Orchestra joins the celebration with a concert at the hr-Sendesaal, featuring music related to the community's 75-year history. The program, conducted by Jonathan Stockhammer and featuring Cantor Yitzchak Meir Helfgot, was developed in collaboration with Camilo Bornstein. Speakers include Hessian Prime Minister Boris Rhein and Prof. Dr. Salomon Korn.
The »Fanny Mendelssohn Förderpreis« has been honouring young classical artists since 2015 – the internationally renowned concept prize not only evaluates the technical virtuosity of the applicants, but also places particular emphasis on innovative concepts and visionary design. The young talents are given absolute freedom in their musical projects.
The Akkordeon-Orchester Hamburg-Eimsbüttel von 1949 e.V. (AOE) is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. The highlight of the anniversary year is the autumn concert in the Recital Hall of the Laeiszhalle. The AOE is looking forward to showing the audience how versatile this instrument is and offers a colourful mixture of pieces ranging from classical to pop. Conductor Stefanie Perl-Kindel will conduct the concert together with guest conductor, composer and arranger Tobias Dalhof. The ensemble of the Hamburg-Eimsbüttel Accordion Orchestra under the direction of Andreas Schulze will also be taking part, as it has done for decades.
