DANIEL SEPEC & IL ROSARIO

Date & Time
Tue, Apr 15, 2025, 19:30
Daniel Sepec has made a specialty of rarely heard Baroque violin repertoire—including Biber’s “Mystery” Sonatas, which he performed to great acclaim at the Pierre Boulez Saal last season. He now returns with another veritable discovery: joined by his longtime musical partners Hille Perl, Lee Santana, and Michael Behringer, Sepec presents violin sonatas by the almost entirely forgotten Italian composer Giovanni Antonio Pandolfi Mealli, written in 1660 while he served as court musician in Innsbruck. The program also includes works by his contemporaries Kapsberger, Bonnizzi, Schmelzer, and Biber.

Jakub Józef Orliński / Il Pomo d’Oro

Tue, Sep 17, 2024, 20:00
Elbphilharmonie, Großer Saal (Hamburg)
Jakub Józef Orliński (Countertenor), Il Pomo d’Oro
Jakub Józef Orliński bridges the gap between the past and the present effortlessly: with a warm, radiant voice and rousing enthusiasm, the countertenor, who has already won the OPUS KLASSIK award three times, transports his audience to centuries long past. And yet he is not an artist who loses himself in the past – on the contrary. Orliński’s sparkling charm and his sympathetically sober view of things like success and career are as unpretentious as they are contemporary. In this ProArte concert, you can look forward to his excursion into the musically incredibly rich world of the Italian Baroque.

Il trovatore

Thu, Mar 27, 2025, 19:30
Paolo Arrivabeni (Musical Director), Christian Günther (Chorleitung), George Petean (Luna), Marco Berti (Manrico), Olga Peretyatko (Leonora), Kristina Stanek (Azucena), Hubert Kowalczyk (Ferrando), Marie Maidowski (Inez), Aaron Godfrey-Mayes (Ruiz), Chor der Hamburgischen Staatsoper (Chorus), Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg (Orchestra)
For Leonora, the song of the troubadour Manrico holds the promise and glow of love; Manrico's rival Count Luna perceives in it threat and danger. Verdi's opera is a celebration of Italian opera singing at its best - so it is no coincidence that the title character is a singer himself. And yet for the composer, Azucena, Manrico's mother, was the real protagonist. Il trovatore is rich in dramatic intricacies and intense emotions, which Verdi abruptly juxtaposes in images and scenes. Tragedy relentlessly unfolds before our eyes and ears until the truth is revealed in the opera's final seconds. Stage: Alex Eales Costumes: Herbert Murauer Lighting: James Farncombe Video: Philipp Contag-Lada Dramaturgy: Ralf Waldschmidt Chorus: Christian Günther
