Daniel Sepec has made a specialty of rarely heard Baroque violin repertoire—including Biber’s “Mystery” Sonatas, which he performed to great acclaim at the Pierre Boulez Saal last season. He now returns with another veritable discovery: joined by his longtime musical partners Hille Perl, Lee Santana, and Michael Behringer, Sepec presents violin sonatas by the almost entirely forgotten Italian composer Giovanni Antonio Pandolfi Mealli, written in 1660 while he served as court musician in Innsbruck. The program also includes works by his contemporaries Kapsberger, Bonizzi, Schmelzer, and Biber.
