Composer Fanny Hensel's work was long overshadowed by her famous brother Felix Mendelssohn, receiving proper recognition far too late. Robert Schumann's violin concerto suffered a similar fate, deemed a failed attempt and shelved by performers, with its release forbidden for 100 years. Today it's in the repertoire, and Brahms's Symphony No. 1 will form an impressive closing piece for the evening.

Swiss flutist Eva Oertle performs across Europe, playing with renowned orchestras and at major concert halls. She has toured internationally and released acclaimed CDs. Vesselin Stanev, born in Bulgaria, studied music in Sofia, Moscow, and Paris, winning awards and performing throughout Europe, Russia, and Japan. He collaborates with distinguished conductors and frequently performs chamber music with Eva Oertle.

Der französische Geiger Renaud Capuçon zählt zu den gefragtesten Solisten der internationalen Musikwelt und ist für dieses Werk ein idealer Botschafter. Daneben präsentiert das Budapest Festival Orchestra unter Iván Fischer ein oft verkanntes Meisterwerk von Richard Strauss. »Ich wollte mit Josephs Legende den Tanz erneuern«, meinte der Komponist rückblickend über sein Ballett »Josephs Legende«.
