The SummerConcerts powered by VriendenLoterij presents two months of wonderful concerts, from classical to jazz and from pop to film music. Top musicians from the Netherlands and around the world bring you all your favourite classical pieces, as well as video game music and hits from Broadway musicals.We also present a host of young talent in our summer concerts, including youth orchestras from Greece, Australia and Cuba, and top young classical soloists. After many of the concerts, we offer a meet-and-greet with the artists in an informal setting, or an afterparty with DJ in the Entrance Hall. In one of the world’s finest concert halls, there’s something for everyone this summer at The Concertgebouw!

Adventurous, inquisitive, independent, and principled in his approach – Pascal Dusapin has retained these qualities to this day, which explains why he is one of the most important composers of his generation. For his artfully crafted cycle of seven “orchestral solos,” he pondered for almost two decades the “question of the pure line” – which, according to the composer, is attained only in the sixth solo, entitled Reverso. Uncut concludes the collection of seven solos, and, with its iridescent prisms of color, is inspired by the legacy of Messiaen and Boulez. Conductor Ariane Matiakh will also include the Scenes from Penthesilea on the programme – a dramatic suite with three central roles interpreted by one singer, who in this concert will be the wonderful Christel Loetzsch. Another highlight is Dusapin’s Violin Concerto, characterized by sophisticated timbral changes, and performed by Renaud Capuçon.

A long-awaited collaboration between celebrated French violinist Renaud Capuçon and the always-ambitious piano virtuoso Igor Levit. Together, they tackle Brahms’ three Sonatas for Violin and Piano—a concentration of poetry, brilliance and heroism.
