Pictures of an exhibition
Kulturpalast Dresden, Konzertsaal (Dresden)
How would a painting sound if it were music? The Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky tried it out and the result was his famous "Pictures at an Exhibition". In a bustling market, the vendors are arguing, a limping gnome sneaks by, chirping chicks hatch from their eggshells and dance a ballet. Together with the orchestra and Malte Arkona, we also encounter the evil witch Baba Yaga, meet children playing in the park, visit an old castle, and walk through the great gate of Kiev. Can't imagine it? Then come with your class to the cultural palace for a school concert!
