Veronika Eberle and friends Schubert-Oktett

Sun, Apr 6, 2025, 19:00
Veronika Eberle (Violin), Benjamin Günst (Violin), Pauline Sachse (Viola), Valentino Worlitzsch (Cello), Enno Senft (Contrabass), Thorsten Johanns (Clarinet), Ben Goldscheider (Horn), María José Rielo Blanco (Fagott), José Gallardo (Piano)
String quartets thrive on the homogeneity of the ensemble, achieved through long-term collaboration. Larger ensembles, however, mostly benefit from the confrontation of strong individuals, whose temperaments can unfold within a carefully crafted interpretation. When seven outstanding young soloists gather around the violinist Veronika Eberle to perform Franz Schubert's magnificent Octet, precisely this potentiation of creative energies is to be expected. Far more concise than Schubert's work, with which he famously wanted to "pave the way to the great symphony" in 1824, is the Octet by the young composer Gregor Mayrhofer - an equally poetic and masterful new edition of the mixed octet of strings and winds. Following the concert there will be an artist talk with Anselm Cybinski at the festival center.
