The Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben invites you to a benefit concert at the Elbphilharmonie and presents selected scholarship holders. Pianist and alumna Mariam Batsashvili will be a guest star. The invited young artists will demonstrate stylistic diversity and great skill on the stage of the Grand Hall in various chamber music ensembles – including the string orchestra of the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben under the direction of Nicolò Foron, the award-winning 2Cities Cello Quartet and the two duos Leon Lorenz (percussion) & Philipp Schupelius (cello) and Polina Tarasenko (trombone) & Tabea Streicher (piano). The Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, based in Hamburg, has been supporting top young musicians since 1962. Around 300 scholarship holders are given sustainable and individual support through the loan of valuable string instruments, scholarships and sponsorships and performances with cooperation partners such as festivals and major orchestras.
You can simply go to a concert at the Philharmonie, spontaneously, during your lunch break – and with free admission: every Wednesday at 13:00 between September and June. The programme lasts 40 to 50 minutes: chamber music, piano works or a percussion duo – everything from Tchaikovsky to tango. Members of the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Karajan Academy regularly perform, as well as guests from the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester, the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Berlin music conservatories. As can be expected at a lunch concert, catering is available from 12 noon until shortly before the concert begins.
