CLARA-JUMI KANG & SUNWOOK KIM
Before joining the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra as soloist for its spring tour at the end of February, Clara-Jumi Kang returns to the Pierre Boulez Saal together with her piano partner Sunwook Kim to perform four works that explore the full range of the violin sonata repertoire. Bookending their program with a Beethoven classic and an early masterpiece by 23-year-old Richard Strauss, the duo also presents Ottorino Respighi’s 1917 Sonata and the idiosyncratic Fourth Sonata by Mieczysław Weinberg, written in 1947.
