Vollendung – Mozarts letzte Sinfonien

Date & Time
Fri, Dec 6, 2024, 20:00
In just a few summer weeks, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart hastily composed three major symphonies, unaware they would be his last. These works are often seen as a culmination of his creative power, even theorized as a single three-chapter work. Each symphony explores different moods: joyful grandeur in E-flat major, tragic drama in G minor, and soaring power in the "Jupiter" Symphony.

Mozart's Symphony No. 40, K. 550, is his most famous. Viennese conductor and violinist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, Artist in Residence, is uniquely qualified to present this masterpiece in the Spotlight concert. Born and musically raised in Vienna, he embodies the Mozartian spirit. He'll discuss this symphony in G minor, which, with Nos. 39 and 41, forms a famous triad crowning Mozart's symphonic work. Its mastery and emotional richness, with characteristic dark tones, make it one of Mozart's most expressive works, exploring themes of darkness and resignation.
