Her talent is like the horizon: the closer you get to it, the further away it gets." Now the songs of Ella meet the songs and standards of Count Basie. **** It's hard to believe: in May 2025, the jazz festival will take place in the Tischlerei for the 5th time and illustrious programmes and stars of the jazz scene will join forces. Experience Handel's music as the perfect template for improvised jazz (5, 6 May). The fantastic guitarist Josho Stephan plays a tribute to Django Reinhardt (7, 8 May), the unforgettable songs that originated on the Motown Records label are interpreted by Worthy Davis on 9 May and Mette Nadja Hansen lends her voice and bends her knee to the incomparable Ella Fitzgerald and The Count (10, 11 May). Two concerts for children aged between 4 and 7 about the "magic dragon Mo", the first trumpet dragon in Pyromania, will conclude the festival on 11 and 12 May.

Jazz mal anders: Big Band meets Theremin

An exciting and unusual evening of music awaits, blending the theremin with jazz. Carolina and the WDR jazz musicians will showcase their diverse talents, playing everything from jazz standards to pop. The show at Cologne's Philharmonic Hall will also include a brief introductory lesson on the theremin, making this a unique event for curious music lovers.

Vivaldi meets Piazzolla

Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" enjoys immense popularity, portraying nature's events and moods through vivid musical language. Composed 300 years ago, the context has shifted, particularly with climate change. Astor Piazzolla's "Cuatro Estaciones Porteñas" focuses on human life in Buenos Aires. The Hamburg Stage Ensemble, a group of young musicians, aims to connect with audiences through intimate performances without a conductor.

Tango - Quartetto Rotterdam

The Cuarteto Rotterdam, a leading European tango ensemble, is praised for its technical brilliance and interpretive depth. With bandoneón, violin, piano, and double bass, they deliver a sound experience between tradition and modernity. Joined by singer Noelia Tomassi and dancers Andrés Santel and Celeste Medina, they present a wide repertoire of tango history. From Amsterdam to Buenos Aires, they've captivated audiences with their passion and virtuosity, embracing both traditional and contemporary tango, including Astor Piazzolla's works.
