Kreatives Kraftwerk: Wenn der stets abenteuerlustige Blockflötist Erik Bosgraaf auf die ebenfalls entdeckerfreudigen Mitglieder von Concerto Köln trifft, ist ein besonderes Konzerterlebnis eigentlich schon garantiert. Gemeinsam bauen sie Brücken zwischen gestern und heute, zwischen Barock und Moderne.»Bridges« heißt ihr gemeinsames Programm dann auch, in dem Antonio Vivaldi und Georg Friedrich Händel, zwei der größten Meister des italienischen Concertos, eine Brücke vom Barock zur zeitgenössischen ukrainischen Komponistin Victoria Poleva schlagen. Von Italien nach Frankreich blickt dann Georg Philipp Telemann mit den französischen Tänzen aus seiner »Ouvertüre-Suite«, während die Eigenkompositionen von Erik Bosgraaf als Scharniere zwischen den einzelnen Teilen fungieren, die am Ende ein großes Konzert-Ganzes ergeben.

Johannes Brahms galt als eher ernster, ja sogar etwas eigenbrötlerischer Komponist, während Franz von Suppè vor allem für die leichte Muse steht, gilt er doch als Schöpfer der Wiener Operette. In diesem Konzert richtet der Oratorienchor Köln den Blick auf eine weniger bekannte Seite des Komponisten.Franz von Suppès »Requiem« ist nicht mehr als eine Fußnote in der Musikgeschichte – und doch ein ganz erstaunliches Werk, das die kontrapunktische Kunstfertigkeit seines Schöpfers zeigt, der übrigens denselben Tonsatz-Lehrer hatte wie Anton Bruckner und Franz Schubert. Eindrucksvoll blasen die Posaunen zum jüngsten Gericht, hier ist der Komponist hörbar von Mozarts »Requiem« inspiriert. Mit den teils opernhaften Zügen verweist er aber auch schon auf das 20 Jahre später entstandene »Requiem« von Verdi, während Brahms’ »Schicksalslied« im Anschluss an sein erfolgreiches »Deutsches Requiem« entstand.
