A colourful bouquet of musical pieces that are simply enjoyable, well-known melodies and a few folk tunes to sing along to: That’s the mix for this special »Cantabile« chamber concert. In close cooperation with the Alzheimer Stiftung Bamberg e. V., the programme and concept of the concert have been specially tailored to the needs of people with dementia. However, the concert is open to all people who are unable to visit a regular concert due to a disability or impairment. We welcome you and your accompanying persons to the Hegelsaal of the Bamberg Concert Hall for a diverse musical morning, moderated by Martin Timphus, violist and member of the Bamberg Symphony’s education team.

In this series, the Berliner Philharmoniker and guests spark enthusiasm for classical music and take a closer look at the art of composing. In moderated concerts, they present the timbres of the instruments. In the school concert “Klassik rockt” with members of the Berliner Philharmoniker, the music and comedy duo Carrington-Brown and the children’s songwriter Suli Puschban, young and old can also sing along – across all musical styles.

The Berliner Philharmoniker initiated the “Xberg & Du” project together with local cooperation partners. The event planning and content programme for the festival is in the hands of young people. The result is a colourful festival programme with music, breakdancing, poetry slam, photo box, photo exhibition, a wheel of fortune and much more. Delicious catering is also provided. Admission is free and there is one free drink per person.

Steve Reich's "Music for 18 Musicians" is a key work of Minimal Music. This kaleidoscopic cosmos of sound for strings, woodwinds, xylophones, pianos, and voices is presented by the all-star band of Ensemble Modern. More than 100,000 recordings of the first recording were sold in 1978. 20 years after the premiere in New York, the piece came to Europe, where Ensemble Modern studied it with the composer. A close relationship developed between Reich and the Ensemble, and they are still experts in his music today.

For many years now, Lunchtime Concerts have been held in the Main Hall and the Recital Hall. The concerts range from public rehearsals by the Concertgebouworkest, to chamber music performances by young up-and-coming artists.For Lunchtime Concerts you will require a free ticket, which you can buy online. Doors to the concert hall open about 30 minutes before the Lunchtime Concert starts.We offer a broad range of music: the majority of concerts include classical music, but you can sometimes hear more modern repertoire. The concert programme is announced one week in advance on our website. The concerts last thirty minutes and are free of charge. Visitors are advised that these concerts are suitable for children from six years old.
