The Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra and chief conductor Alain Altinoglu will perform three guest concerts in Spain this March, visiting Madrid, Barcelona, and Oviedo. They will perform Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade. In Madrid and Barcelona, they will also play Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major with Denis Kozhukhin, and in Oviedo, Debussy's "Ariettes oubliées" with mezzo-soprano Ambroisine Bré.
Alain Altinoglu and the hr-Symphony Orchestra will perform in Hamburg's Elbphilharmonie with a French repertoire. The program includes Henri Dutilleux's 2nd Symphony, Claude Debussy's "Ariettes oubliées", and Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's "Scheherazade". Mezzo-soprano Ambroisine Bré joins as soloist.
Alain Altinoglu presents two icons of French music by Henri Dutilleux and Gérard Grisey, alongside forgotten songs by Claude Debussy. Dutilleux's Symphony No. 2, "Le Double," known for its polyrhythmic effects and jazzy brass, established his reputation as Debussy's successor. Debussy's early "Ariettes oubliées" and Grisey's "L’Icône paradoxale," inspired by a Piero della Francesca fresco, complete the program.
