South Korea is currently the country with probably the greatest enthusiasm for classical music, and Seong-Jin Cho is one of its most celebrated stars. After becoming the first Korean to win the Warsaw Chopin Competition, he even topped the pop charts there. But "Heavenly Joys" is also offered by Gustav Mahler. Mahler's "Fourth" is deliberately simplified, as if it had arisen from a child's fantasy. The conductor Bruno Walter added: "If man now asks in amazement what all this means, a child answers him with the fourth movement: This is heavenly life."
