The program spans from Johann Sebastian Bach's great-uncle, Johann Christoph, to his sons, Carl Philipp Emanuel and Wilhelm Friedemann, framed by works of Johann Sebastian himself.

Johann Adam Hiller, successor to Johann Sebastian Bach, praised Bach as the strongest piano and organ player of his time. Bach is not only a great church musician and organ composer but also intensively explored the harpsichord, performing concerts with his sons for three or four solo keyboard instruments at the Zimmermann coffee house in Leipzig. The Bach Festival for the chest organ will feature four organists showcasing this rich sound with up to four organs.

Kuhn, the organ builder, states that upholding tradition isn't nostalgia, but a testament to the vibrant present. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Essen Philharmonic and its Kuhn organ, exceptional organists Angela Metzger and Benjamin Righetti will perform a new piece by Michael Pelzel for two consoles. The closing concert of Orgelfestival.Ruhr2024 will feature six Ruhr organists on the Schuke organ.
