Handel's baroque magic opera "Rinaldo" and Verdi's opera comedy "Falstaff" are the experimental fields for directing students. In their productions, directing and singing students regularly dedicate themselves to both great traditional works of the opera world and lesser-known music theatre, showing the audience their perspectives on this repertoire.

Am I dreaming or is this real? In »Somnia«, the music spirits you away to an enchanted world. As in a dream, you sometimes feel threatened. But before you wake up in the middle of a nightmare, Ensemble Resonanz gently brings you back from the edge. The chamber music ensemble plays music from five centuries in this imaginative concert. It is accompanied by two circus performers with a good head for heights, who move skilfully to the music and, together with the musicians, provide a few surprises as well. »Twinkle Concerts« is the series of children’s concerts at the Elbphilharmonie that brings the most successful productions from all over Europe to Hamburg. At times funny and playful, at others thoughtful and reflective, the series introduces children to the world of music in a special and unique way.

The New Piano Trio of the “Pool of Invention” offers an unprecedented new approach to the fugue as the supreme compositional discipline of the Baroque. In “Fuga in Odd”, Florian Willeitner already combined strict counterpoint with Balkan rhythmic fire. He now takes this idea a step further. His newly composed preludes and fugues, which can be heard here, bow to the specific tonal languages of various composers from the past and present. Instead of freezing in awe of his role models, the violinist and composer always seeks a productive exchange with the musical past.
Although the organ is traditionally associated with sacred music and grand concerts, it can also be a fascinating complement to less typical chamber settings. The untypical combinations in this year’s organ concert series provide unique sounds and new, unexpected combinations. The result? We become more open to new interpretational possibilities and free experimenting. True to its "geographical" name, the alpine horn was often used in the Alps as a shepherd's instrument, its sound echoing through mountain valleys, serving both as a means of communication and in folk music. Hence the presence of such pieces as the traditional melody In den Alpen in the programme. This will be completed by the pastoral compositions by Leopold Mozart and Anton Zimmermann, Arcangelo Corelli’s baroque concerto arranged by Francesco Di Lernia, and contemporary compositions by Arvo Pärt and Giovanni D’Aquila. This diverse repertoire will take listeners on a journey across eras and musical styles, towards discoveries of new, surprising sounds. Alexandra KozowiczConcert duration: approximately 80 minutes
