For Lucienne Renaudin Vary, there’s no question: with bare feet, she feels intimately the music that surrounds her. »I also feel much more comfortable on stage, almost like I’m at home.« And you can tell: a refreshing naturalness surrounds the French trumpeter, who at just 25 years old has an impressive career to her name. »The trumpet is my voice,« she says. An unmistakable voice, regardless of whether she is improvising with her jazz quartet or performing a true repertoire classic such as Hummel’s trumpet concerto with a top orchestra.
