An evening dedicated to Minimal Music at Karlstorbahnhof, featuring Steve Reich's works. Pianist Kai Schumacher performs Reich's "Electric Counterpoint" and his own compositions. Percussionist Christoph Sietzen and MOTUS Percussion present Reich's "Drumming." This event includes the entire Minimal Night, with a late-night ticket available from 10 pm.

Tango Late Night

Due to the high demand, we are organising an exclusive Tango Late Night following the chamber concert "Argentinian Tango"! The Argentinian tangos from the first concert will be supplemented by further tangos in a varied line-up.

Late Night: Hinako Omori

»The relationship with ourselves is consistent, and when it’s healed, wonderful things can come from that«, says Japanese composer and singer Hinako Omori. Wonderful music, for example, as her latest album »stillness, softness...« shows. While her previous album »a journey...« focussed on nature, she now turns her attention to the inner self. As casual as the title sounds, listeners sink into the hypnotic stream of synthesiser sounds over which Omori’s gentle voice glides. Perfect for a late night session at the Elbphilharmonie and a relaxed end to the evening. Hinako Omori performs at the invitation of Swiss singer-songwriter Sophie Hunger, who is curating an entire weekend with musical friends in March – Hunger’s »Reflektor« festival. These two artists know each other from Hunger’s album »Halluzinationen«, which they recorded together with other musicians in Omori’s adopted home of London.

Exaudi Late Night: a cappella

Fascinatingly fragile tonal images: Exaudi is one of the world’s leading vocal ensembles with a strong affinity for the outlying margins of new and ancient music. This group of singers can now be experienced at Musikfest Berlin in a late-night concert of chromatically spectacular Renaissance music. In the Papal chapel singer and music theorist Vicente Lusitano an artist is also represented who is now thought likely to be the first Black composer to be published in Europe.

Late Night “Cantando hacia el Sur”

In his music, Lucas Dorado explores the sounds and rhythms of the musical and natural landscapes of Latin America. His compositions tell of the animals, flowers and trees of South America – of their lush diversity and magnificent beauty, and also of the threat to their dwindling habitat, which is a place of melancholic longing. The ensemble interweaves diverse rhythmic structures with jazz harmonies. Vibraphone and cello meet vocals – with Latin American percussion.How to find us, address and more

Workshop: Kosmos Minimal Music

Minimal Music was a new type of music that started to emerge in the USA in the 1960s. It is characterised by catchy, repetitive melodies or rhythms, so-called »patterns«. Composers like Steve Reich and Philip Glass made the style famous all over the world. The workshop participants learn about Minimal Music, can try out various instruments, and at the end play their own piece written in the style.
