phil zu entdecken - with four hands on 176 keys

Sun, Feb 9, 2025, 11:00
Nicholas Collon (Conductor), Lucas und Arthur Jussen (Piano), Victoria Esper (Presenter), Michael Kube (Concept), Dresdner Philharmonie
2 x 88 = 176. So many keys are rarely found in the Kulturpalast. This time, two grand pianos are on stage! What special sounds in black and white will be discovered there? It will definitely be an adventure – even for Phili, our curious Earth girl! Perhaps she has hidden something among all those keys and strings? Will she succeed in luring Victoria and the two piano soloists out of their shell? They are certainly two young friendly brothers from Holland, who will bring fun and good spirits with the poetic music of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. <br>

America!

Sat, Apr 12, 2025, 16:00
Bruno Borralhinho (Conductor), Michael Kube (Konzeption), Daniel Haupt (Moderator), Dresdner Philharmonie
Who doesn't know the love story of Romeo and Juliet? Also in Bernstein's "West Side Story" it is about two young people whose love tragically ends. The special thing here is of course the music, Leonard Bernstein has combined various currents of jazz, classical opera, and Latin American dance music into an exciting musical sequence that still keeps us on the edge of our seats. When Gershwin spent two months in Paris in 1928, he was fascinated by the morbid-lustful atmosphere in Montmartre, the rush hour on the Champs-Élysées, and admired the imposing Eiffel Tower. But he actually felt homesick for New York, and that's exactly what the music in "An American in Paris" tells. A ragtime portrays the American. A blues in the middle part represents his melancholy. But luckily, the American meets a compatriot. The two ignore the Cancan-dancing Paris with a casual-cool Charleston.

phil to explore ...at the musical fireworks

Sun, May 4, 2025, 11:00
Hans-Christoph Rademann (Conductor), Daniel Haupt (Speaker), Victoria Esper (Speaker), Michael Kube (Idea), Dresdner Philharmonie
Today, the Dresden Philharmonic Orchestra is really going to make some noise. Centuries ago, during big celebrations, a proper fireworks display was set off. This was also the case in April 1749, when the British King George II, who hailed from Hanover, organized a grand peace festival. Georg Friedrich Handel composed music for the occasion, which is still popular today because it puts everyone in a good mood. One can only hope that the little Philharmonic Orchestra doesn't get any silly ideas, or does it? Daniel will have a lot to do this morning. But don't worry! The fire department is always present at every concert in the Kulturpalast.

phil to discover - with the Rosenkavalier

Sun, Dec 8, 2024, 11:00
Kerem Hasan (Conductor), Malte Arkona (Presenter), Victoria Esper (Voice of Phili), Michael Kube (Concept), Dresdner Philharmonie
A silver rose and a lot of enthusiasm. This music blossoms with grand gestures and exudes the delightful freshness of summer and the splendor of the Viennese waltz in the cold season. Almost 114 years ago, "Der Rosenkavalier" had its premiere in Dresden – today we embark on a journey of discovery through the orchestra: How did Richard Strauss manage to create such enchanting sounds? Meanwhile, Phili is searching for the "Woman without a Shadow" – and finds music that is full of images and great moments. The Dresden Philharmonic is performing on this day with a very large ensemble of almost 100 musicians. It could be an unforgettable musical experience.

Right in the middle - Peter and the Wolf

Sat, Sep 27, 2025, 14:00
Na’Zir McFadden (Conductor), Malte Arkona (Narrator), Dresdner Philharmonie
For many, Prokofiev's fairy tale is the ultimate musical childhood memory. Whether the bassoon as the grandfather or the oboe as the voice of the duck leaves a stronger impression - for children, a performance of this classic is usually unforgettable, and in this concert they can even experience the instruments right in the middle of the orchestra, as the audience sits directly among the musicians on stage.

phil to explore... in the Philharmonic Children's Choir

Sun, Sep 28, 2025, 11:00
Gunter Berger (Conductor), Malte Arkona (Moderator), Victoria Esper ("Voice of Phili"), Philharmonischer Kinderchor Dresden
Anyone can sing - singing together in a choir is not only a lot of fun, but there is so much beautiful music to discover and wonderful friendships are formed along the way. In the Philharmonic Children's Choir, it never gets boring, and because our Earth girl Phili knows that, she will surely come up with some jokes and stir everything up - then Malte will have to bring order back in, otherwise it might sound even worse. But don't worry, choir director Gunter Berger will surely conjure up heavenly sounds with the choir - even Phili will feel like joining in.
