Till Brönner, though born near Düsseldorf, identifies with the Ruhr region, which he portrayed in a photo book. He sees the area as always evolving, linking its improvisational spirit to jazz. His concert at the Essen Philharmonic is a homecoming. The world-class trumpeter, successful since his 1993 debut album, may perform music from his new album.

Herbert Grönemeyer will conduct Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto with the Bochum Symphony Orchestra at the Alfried Krupp Saal. World-class pianist Anna Vinnitskaya will play the solo part. The concert will also feature symphonic arrangements of Grönemeyer's hits, and he may even sing. Those who can't get tickets can enjoy the event at the Stadtgarten Public Listening.
